We closed our shop on Saturday 1/21 to partake in 12 Hours of Temecula mountain bike race. It was the first of three Temecula races in that series for 2012 and you can click here to see how much fun we had in the past. As one of the most popular races for the bike shop, we had about a dozen participants divided into multiple teams. We will post the latest pictures soon. Click here for the race website.
Our fun weekly Saturday mountain bike ride starts at 8:00 a.m. and it's for people of all skill levels. We leave from the shop for Topanga State Park and the ride is about 2 to 2.5 hours long. Just show up with your bike and gear, have some fun in the dirt, and then hang out to meet new people afterwards. We're truly happy to have met and make friends with some of the most wonderful people on these rides. This is also a great opportunity to demo our performance mountain bikes from BMC, Niner, Salsa, Pivot, Orbea and more. Bike demo/rental reservation is required. We do cancel the ride for races, holidays and bad weather. To find out where and what the ride is for each coming weekend, just become a shop fan on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, e-mail or call us.
Salsa continues to amaze us with their ability to put so much fun and excitement in cycling. They've done it again this time with the brand new Horsethief which is a full-suspension 29er trail bike with 120mm of rear travel. Check out this video review done by Brian kaufman who wrote "This is a fun bike with great handling. With ample suspension it rolls down Eagle Rock like you are on a concrete bike path. It climbs surprisingly well. Squishy, but if you sit back and enjoy it, the bike will roll up rutted climbs and open overlooked lines." Click here to watch the awesome video.
BMC Speedfox is one of our most popular mountain bikes. It simply can't be beat - impeccable Swiss engineering combined with the amazing Advanced Pivot System (APS) suspension design at a perfect mid-range price point. Right now we have in stock a few 2011 Speedfox SF01 and SF03 in sizes XL and XS we're clearing out to make room for 2012 bikes. Clearance prices start at $1,350 after over 30% saving. While supplies last! Click here for more info.
29er bikes have caught on like a firestorm in recent years and the demand for it is getting even stronger. There's a good reason for it — increased footprint equals increased traction and larger wheel diameter carries more forward momentum, making it a blast to fly down the trails with more stability. Through years of development and real-world testing, many new 29er frames are light-weight, fast, and feature shorter wheelbase so they are nimble around the corners. We carry a great selection of 29er bikes in both hardtail and full suspension to meet your needs and budget. Some of the popular models are Salsa El Mariachi, Salsa Spearfish, Niner Jet 9, Niner Air 9, Pivot 429, Orbea Alma, BMC Teamelite 29, Devinci Wooky, and Surly Karate Monkey. Prices start at $1120. Please visit us for full selections.
There's a good reason why BMC has waited this long to introduce us their first 29er bikes - hardtail Teamelite TE29 and full-suspension Speedfox SF29. In the same fashion which all of their bikes are designed and produced, BMC took their time to meticulously craft, engineer, test and retest each frame to make sure they have the perfect products. These two bikes are impressive. They feel sure-footed and stable in the dirt without any sluggishness. You can demo both of them now at our shop. We also have specials on remaining 2011 Speedfox and Trailfox. Please visit us for selection.

Voodoo is a well-respected boutique bike manufacturer with a dedicated following since its inception 17 years ago. We love their small brand philosophy with focus on quality and reliability for everyday riders. The Zobop is their new all-mountain 5.5" suspension frame specially designed for long climbs and steep descents. With its rigid and fully active floating pivot point linkage suspension, this bike is just stiff enough when climbing and plush for the big hits when bombing down those boulder-choked trails. This frame will take anything you can throw at it and ask for more. Available at TCB now.
Surly is going even BIGGER with their fat tire bikes. New is the Pugsley Black Ops which is an all black Pugsley with 82mm-wide Rolling Darryl rims for expanded tire footprint, increased traction and all-terrain floatation. Surly then raises the bar even more by developing even higher-volume tires, wider rims and a frame to accommodate them. So they pop the Big Fat Larry 4.7" tire on the 100mm-wide Clown Shoe rim and mount them on the brand new Moonlander frameset. The end result is a monster and a total blast to ride. It steamrolls through snow, sand and mud like nothing else. Visit our shop to see the Moonlander now.

We received our Boo 29er mountain bike frame and it is quite amazing. Yes, bamboo for a mountain bike. Boo's true advantage is in bamboo's special ride properties. The bamboo is able to flex very slightly over trail chatter, gravel, and washboard - smoothing the ride and letting you hammer in the saddle all day with less fatigue and more speed. Boo frame is constructed with specially treated and hand selected dendrocalamus strictus bamboo tubing and high-modulus carbon wrapped tube-to-tube. All aspects of the frame have been beefed up to weather the elements, including thicker tube walls all around and additional carbon layers at the joints. It does everything other metal bikes can do. Available now.

We showed up in full force for the Great Asphodelus Dig on Deerhill Trail to give this trail the proper maintenance it needed. Deerhill Trail is one of the trailheads that leads right into the Topanga State Park and we use it quite often for our morning shop rides. So it was our shared responsibility for making sure it stays in good shape not just for bikers, but for everyone who uses the trail as well. Lots of people showed up to help out and we just want to say THANK YOU for the great work. We look forward to next year's maintenance event. Click here for more pictures.

We love things that are handmade because it requires creativity, individuality and craftsmanship to produce something that is never identical to the next one. We strongly support the artisan community and you can find many of these unique handmade items at our shop. The popular TCB mugs are made by a local artist in Topanga. Danny, who is a luthier by trade, makes wooden clocks with recycled bicycle components. There are rubber wallets made out of recycled bicycle tubes. You'll also find handmade touring frame bags and related accessories. Visit our shop to see them all.
Yes! All new 2012 bicycles and accessories are arriving at our doorstep daily. For 2012, manufacturers have stepped up to provide us with many exciting new models. BMC introduced their 29er hardtail Teamelite and 29er full suspension Speedfox. Surly added Moonlander and Pugsley Black Ops to their fat bike roster. Pivot raised the bar with the new Carbon Mach 5.7. And Salsa's Horsethief is already talk of the town. Not to mention we're adding Voodoo and Boo to our already great mix of bicycles. Additionally, fresh new products from Brooks, Crank Brothers, WTB, Continental and many more make us truly excited moving forward. Visit us for selections.
Take your bike to the next level with a set of our custom built wheels. We hand lace all custom wheels from scratch starting with a pair of hubs from highly sought-after companies such as Chris King and White Industries. Using Phil Wood Spoke Cutting Machine, we can cut and thread each spoke to any length based on wheel and hub combination. It's then a true balancing act to get each wheel complete round, dished and true to yield a final product that's light-weight, strong, precise and race-ready. Reduced rotational weight means you'll work less with every pedal stroke, thus noticeable gain in efficiency and power. See custom wheel building in action.
Our shop carries and stocks many unique and highly sought-after bikes, frames, parts and accessories from specialty manufacturers who we have great relationships with.
